Reader Training

Two friends of Scottish Talking Newspapers, Bette Boyd and John Cavanagh, have written these useful notes for readers.

Bette is a drama teacher, verse speaker, lecturer in oral presentation skills, Fellow of and Examiner for the English Speaking Board (International), co-author of A Hantle o Verse and formerly BBC Correspondent for the NE of Scotland. Bette has led reading workshops at training days and a Scottish TN conference.

John has worked for the BBC as a music presenter since 1990. Spring 2005 saw him taking on Radio Scotland´s Be Bop to Hip Hop jazz show, whilst continuing with his work as a voice over artist, announcer and newsreader. Visually impaired listeners know him as presenter of the monthly magazine Playback, a role he has filled since 2000.

While you are welcome to print and distribute these notes to your readers, or use as part of your own in-house training, please credit the author and do not alter the content.
